Jaklen visited Chennai city in South India during1996, set
foot on the coastline and enjoyed some peace there.
Knowing how widely Jaklen cared for public health, and how
deeply she loved the environment in beaches around the world,
D P Prakash, a Trustee of Jakie Foundation of India (JFI) has
launched a venture called Project Pride. The mission is "To
make Besant Nagar Beach a Pride of Chennai by 2002, August
15th". Individuals from around the world from
several organizations including Asha For Education, Rejuvenate
India Movement, Friends of Beach, Exnora, Chennai City
Corporation are participating in Project Pride.
"Let it be known from this moment on, that behind the success
of Project Pride lies the light of a great woman who crossed
many mortal borders and inspired immortal love."
